SUMMARY:STCW Personal Survival Techniques (1 day)
DESCRIPTION:STCW Personal Survival Techniques is the name given to Sea Survival in the merchant navy and guides you in how to survive if you are involved in an incident at sea. We teach you the necessary skills to survive if you are ever unlucky enough to have to abandon ship with equal emphasis on both small vessels and larger ships. \nThis course is a mandatory requirement for commercial fishermen and offshore commercial boatmen including merchant seamen and Super-yacht crews. \nThis course also includes a briefing on the evacuation systems fitted to passenger and hazardous cargo ships. \nYou will get the opportunity to experience the equipment fitted to most merchant ships during the pool drills. The equipment that is provided in a liferaft is discussed and demonstrated in detail. \nThe course is carried out at our training centre in Buckfastleigh\, Devon. We use a heated indoor pool in the local area for the wet drills. \nDuring your course you will be instructed in how to stay afloat\, board a liferaft and maintain the raft fit for use. We discuss different types of lifejackets and how to check them before use. You will see a liferaft capsized and witness or take part in the procedure to right it to enable it to be used effectively. \nThe course starts at 8.30 a.m. and normally concludes at around 4.15 p.m. \nDuration: 1 Day \n

DESCRIPTION:STCW Elementary First Aid is one of the four compulsory commercial modules required to work on vessels covered by the STCW convention. It is internationally recognised and covers CPR\, breaks & splints\, bandaging\, drowning and hypothermia and much more. \nOur instructors are career professionals in the medical world and are serving paramedics in most cases. We choose them carefully to ensure they have specific seafarer knowledge as well as extensive experience in their field. \nThe course conforms to “Regulation VI/1\, paragraph 1 and Section A-VI/1\, paragraph 2.1.1.3 of the STCW Convention and Code 1978\, as amended”. \nIn accordance with IMO rules\, this course has no expiry date since it is considered the certificate holder will be acting as an initial responder under the guidance onboard ship of the holder of a more advanced Medical First Aid certificate. SUMMARY:STCW Personal Survival Techniques (1 day)
DESCRIPTION:STCW Personal Survival Techniques is the name given to Sea Survival in the merchant navy and guides you in how to survive if you are involved in an incident at sea. We teach you the necessary skills to survive if you are ever unlucky enough to have to abandon ship with equal emphasis on both small vessels and larger ships. \nThis course is a mandatory requirement for commercial fishermen and offshore commercial boatmen including merchant seamen and Super-yacht crews. \nThis course also includes a briefing on the evacuation systems fitted to passenger and hazardous cargo ships. \nYou will get the opportunity to experience the equipment fitted to most merchant ships during the pool drills. The equipment that is provided in a liferaft is discussed and demonstrated in detail. \nThe course is carried out at our training centre in Buckfastleigh\, Devon. We use a heated indoor pool in the local area for the wet drills. \nDuring your course you will be instructed in how to stay afloat\, board a liferaft and maintain the raft fit for use. We discuss different types of lifejackets and how to check them before use. You will see a liferaft capsized and witness or take part in the procedure to right it to enable it to be used effectively. \nThe course starts at 8.30 a.m. and normally concludes at around 4.15 p.m. \nDuration: 1 Day \n

SUMMARY:STCW Elementary First Aid (1 day)
DESCRIPTION:STCW Elementary First Aid is one of the four compulsory commercial modules required to work on vessels covered by the STCW convention. It is internationally recognised and covers CPR\, breaks & splints\, bandaging\, drowning and hypothermia and much more. \nOur instructors are career professionals in the medical world and are serving paramedics in most cases. We choose them carefully to ensure they have specific seafarer knowledge as well as extensive experience in their field. \nThe course conforms to “Regulation VI/1\, paragraph 1 and Section A-VI/1\, paragraph 2.1.1.3 of the STCW Convention and Code 1978\, as amended”. \nIn accordance with IMO rules\, this course has no expiry date since it is considered the certificate holder will be acting as an initial responder under the guidance onboard ship of the holder of a more advanced Medical First Aid certificate. (Please note that if the Elementary First Aid qualification is used as part of the requirements to be in charge of a vessel working in the MCA Small Craft code or similar it should be renewed every 5 years.) \nThis course can be booked as an individual course or as part of the full STCW 5 day combined package \nDuration: 1 Day

DESCRIPTION:Proficiency in Security Awareness is a course offering new and experienced crew members the basic information required to carry out security duties onboard and help you to have a heightened security awareness. The International Ship and Port Security (ISPS) code outlines the need for security and vigilance onboard merchant vessels of all sizes. This course aims to ensure you can: \n\nreport a security incident\, including a piracy or armed robbery threat or attack;\nknow the procedures to follow when they recognise a security threat ; and\ntake part in security-related emergency and contingency procedures.\n\nThe course is compulsory for all new crew members and for existing crew members unless they have had at least six months documented sea service on an approved vessel between 1st January 2009 and 1st January 2012 or already hold the SSO or CSO qualification.
